Crafty

handmade notebook

A pocket-size notebook. Handmade. By me. Whoo! Making it was strangely addicting - I think a lot of people are going to get funky little notebooks for birthdays and Christmas this year.

Please ignore the fact that it has pink flowers on it...

New layout!

What's new: XHTML 1.0, New Blogger adaptations, a more perfect separation of content and layout, and (currently) a layout with artsy, summery personality.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to quite a few things, including re-integrating my portfolio (yup, the regular art, Irish dance art, and comics are coming back together), and making a proper splash page. But those come later. For now, I'm just glad this thing is finally up.

Crazy

Three consecutive dance practices this week - blisters galore. This evening, a few of us from Reel Studio are performing at a cancer fundraising event. Then tomorrow is Chicago Feis, then Maryville Feis on Sunday.

Not that I'm complaining, though.

90-second exposure

Not bad for a UPS box with a hole in it. These pictures are the Photoshop-corrected versions; the original photos are color-inverted and horizontally flipped, from using the photo paper directly instead of film.

Great jumping monkeys!

Blogger has commenting now! How did I not hear of this! The new Blogger is so packed with funky features it's dizzying - I haven't even found them all - and pretty darn handsome to boot.

Exactly one year ago, after finals let out, I was determined to do three things: banish the Eternal Clutter from my room, transform this neglected site into a supercreative outlet, and get into Prelims (my Holy Grail of Irish dancing). I fairly failed all three quests. Now, my situation looks eerily familiar, plus pre-college stuff and art camp. Bring it on.

Only one year left already?

Typical conversation between an older individual with a respectable job and stable life and shy little me:

Person: So, thinking about college?
Me: Yup. Heck, yeah! Let's hear it for real education!
Person: Where do you want to go?
Me: Uhhmmm... I dunno. Wait, I'm supposed to know? Should I just say U of I?
Person: Do you know what you want to major in?
Me: Uh-I-dunno. Shoot.
Person: Well, what are you interested in?
Me: Er... eh... EVERYTHING! I'm a Renaissance girl! I paint and dance! Pore over calc problems and physics labs! Reflect on history, psychology and literature! Hablo espanol, tambien! Does the world have a problem with this? Am I not allowed to jump into college with a runaway curiousity and a mind wide open?
Person: Anyway... [changes subject]

Anyway. Happy birthday, Reel Studio - Teaching kids Jig Step #2 since 1999. And (belated) congratulations to Julie on her second little bundle of joy.
